Care & Quality

Modern Heritage: Your Quality & Care Guide

At More Extra, we don’t do "disposable." We believe your jewelry should take up space and stand the test of time. Whether it’s our medical-grade steel or our hand-sculpted artisanal brass, we select materials that align with a high-class, self-made lifestyle.

Our Materials: The Two Standards

1. The Surgical Steel Standard (Essentials & Statements) We use 316L Surgical Grade Stainless Steel. This is the gold standard for durability. It’s hypoallergenic, waterproof, and designed to hold a deep luster without irritating your skin. It’s the armor you never have to take off.

2. The Artisanal Brass Standard (The Nile Heavy & India Edits) Our more intricate, sculptural pieces are hand-forged from Solid Brass. We chose brass for its warmth and its ability to hold incredible detail that steel simply can’t match.

Brass is a "living metal"—it interacts with the world and develops a unique character (patina) over time. This isn’t a flaw; it’s a feature of its heritage. It evolves with you.

How to Keep Your "Extra" Looking Extra

While our jewelry is built for the bold, a little high-end maintenance goes a long way.

1. The Water Rule

  • Stainless Steel: Go ahead—shower, gym, repeat. It’s 100% waterproof.

  • Artisanal Brass: Brass is more exclusive. To maintain that mirror-shine, remove your brass pieces before showering, swimming, or heavy workouts. Moisture and sweat accelerate the natural oxidation process.

2. Chemicals & Scents The "Last On, First Off" rule applies to both. Put your jewelry on after applying perfumes, lotions, or hairsprays. Chemicals in these products can interact with the metal and dull the finish over time. You want the glow, not the film.

3. The Brass Reset If your Nile Heavy pieces begin to darken or develop a patina and you want that original gold-flash back, it’s a 60-second fix:

  • The Quick Buff: Use a soft, lint-free cloth after every wear to remove skin oils.

  • The Deep Clean: Use a tiny bit of lemon juice and baking soda or a standard brass polish. A quick rub and a rinse will bring the shine right back to life. Brass is resilient—it always comes back to gold.

4. Storage When you aren’t busy taking up space, store your pieces in the pouch we provide. Keeping them in a dry, separate spot prevents scratches and keeps the air from dulling your shine.
